- Description
Harness, Jute storer's bale harness. Made out of padded hessian sacking, patterned with leather thongs and rope at the bottom to grip the 400 lbs jute bales. Used to transport the bales to the mill for processing. These would have been made on site by the person using them and although thousands would have existed in the peak of jute industry, like much of working costume, very few exist today.
