Maid of the Loch
Visit a shipyard for free! The PS Maid of the Loch's Ship on the Slip programme continues while the ship is on the slipway, under restoration at Balloch, Loch Lomond.
Maid of the Loch is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday 11am – 4pm from Easter Saturday until the end of the October 2023. Visitors are welcomed to celebrate the much-loved Clyde-built paddle steamer and to immerse themselves in the glory days of Scottish industrial and maritime heritage.
No charge to visit Winch House, Slipway, Museum Cabin and Pier. The Maid operates as a charity so donations are always very welcome.
£3 for admission to Life Aquatic Art Exhibition in the aft saloon of the ship. Friends - free entry to exhibition.
Hour long guided hard hat tours of the ship £15 adults and £5 children aged 5 to 15 – reduced fee for Friends.
Lots of visitor friendly activities and videos in the Winch House and the Museum Cabin. Friendly volunteer guides
The impressive winch house, built in 1902, will be ‘In Steam’ monthly and audiences can also enjoy the Slipway Museum and shop/museum cabin space which explores themes from the golden age of shipbuilding. Hard Hat Tour tickets are available to book on Eventbrite.
For 2023 there is a new Life Aquatic Art Exhibition on board, This spectacular multi media art collection will explore our canals, lochs, rivers, and seas and will be a visual treat for all visitors and a terrific addition to the season’s offering.
On site caterers Wild Highlands Coffee will be open all days except Mondays during winter but every day at the Pier Coffee House which has the best views over Loch Lomond. 9.30am – 4pm
Opening Times
The Ship on the Slip is open to the public every weekend from Saturday 8th April 2023 to the end of October 2023. Closed on Saturday 2 September.
