- Description
Cop apron, made from a heavy jute canvas, worn by women working in the jute factories of Dundee. Tied round the waist, they held cops and bobbins of yarn which would be fed into winding frames in order to prepare the recently spun fibres for weaving into canvas. This item of clothing is a rare example of working costume as although thousands would have, at one time, been in existence very few have been valued and preserved and remain today.
