- Description
In 1927 the Hislops were sent to Muckle Flugga Lighthouse - the most northern in the UK. This postcard was sent by Mrs Bella Hislop to her elder children somewhere on the mainland to show what their new lighthouse was like. On the reverse she sends her written message stating that the station is "a fine place - just a distance from I & all". She goes on to say that she and her husband will be going to Haroldswick village to get her youngest son Alister started at the school. The postcard gives a glimpse of what it was like for families to be moved from place to place. Her son Alister later became a light-keeper, as did another of her sons.
