- Description
Booklet, entitled "A.R.P. M.O.C.O Sand Bags". Published by Malcolm Ogilvie & Co Ltd, owners of Constable Works, 2, Dura Street, Dundee, dated 10 May 1939. This was a guide to how to assemble and use the sandbags for the protection of buildings against air raids. Handwritten on front, "First issue, 7500 issued and initialled". The wartime era was very important to the jute industry with the production of sandbags, gun covers, webbing for uniforms etc and commercial production was almost entirely given over for wartime manufacture.
