- Description
Sealed beam units were introduced to a number of Scottish lighthouses from the late 1970s as part of the automation programme. They are essentially composed of a row of high power car headlamps which would rotate constantly on a gearless pedestal. This unit was programmed to rotate fully every 20 seconds, producing a double white flash.
