- Description
Eddie’s Barn is one of the township’s four threshing barns, where the corn grown by Auchindrain’s tenants was processed.
Until around 1900, it had a thatched roof, supported by a traditional timber cruck frame. The barn has been built across the prevailing wind, unlike the township’s houses, which are built end on to the wind. This was so that the power of the wind could be used during the threshing and winnowing of cereals to separate the grain from the inedible chaff).
