Christmas Card from the Defensively Equipped Merchant Ship division
- Description
A Christmas card from the D.E.M.S or the Defensively Equipped Merchant Ship division of the Admiralty during the Second World War.
It shows a shot down plane crashing towards the sea, presumably shot down by the Allied aircraft in the left corner. The image is labelled with the text 'One swallow does not make a summer!' and followed by well wishes for Christmas and New Year.
It is signed 'Jim' who is James Gillies, a man from Lower Largo who served during the First and Second World Wars.
